They are officially cancelled. No time to spend with the recruits, or their families, with Staurday completely devoted to the football team.

You think they would have known that even before all the hype.

This is the first I heard about this. In my opinion this is bad news. Are you telling me that we can't chew gum and walk at the same time?? We should want these kids to see this electric atmosphere and hope that they will be a part of it in years to come. I'm sure the parents that would accompany these recruits have already made accomadations a long time ago. What happens here?? I don't know who's in charge of this latest fiasco, but it sucks and I hope it is only a rumor. I will be watching this, b/c this could change everything.

From what I understand, and I am not really sure how it always goes, but Joe tries to spend time with the recruits and thier families a bit on Friday and Sat after the game. Obviously, with the late game, that is not easy to do. Joe does spend time with the team at Toftrees before the game.
I think it all depends on the kid himself. If he is miffed, then, well that is how it goes. If he comes back for an official, and gets a lot of time and attention from the coaching staff...well that is really what is important. Also, considering how PSU holds thier info tightly to the vest, this could have been discussed weeks ago, but only now comes to the surface for the fans to peruse.
I had heard Logan-El had already rescheduled b/c he has a 3 PM game that Sat.

He should talk to the individual kids and say hey, i'd love for you to come up but I have to warn you I might not be able to have as much time for you and your family during this game because this is the biggest game of the year. You are more than welcome to come up but please understand that (blah blah)

Stx, I agree with your sentiments. These things were set up in advance, everybody knows this. Why would you call off recruit visit's ?? It makes no sense to me.

It doesn't make sense to me either. I don't think you wait until two days before a recruit is supposed to fly up from Florida before you cancel visits. This is the biggest game of the year for Penn State, and we're cancelling the visits. Oh, and we're not telling the unofficial visitors to stay home, just the official ones. I just don't understand it.

I don't think it makes him and Penn State look as professional either. It can easily come across the wrong way. I just dont agree but if we get a W I'm sure I'll forget about it.

OK, so now what I hear is that 4 official visits were cancelled, there are still over 60 kids taking unofficial visits, and Antonio Logan El has a 3 PM game on Sat.
So, we will still get a lot of kids in house.

I am still not sure what to make of this though. I hope Joe personally told these kids what happened.

Many young men will be here, including Odrick and McCoy, plus loads of underclassmen.

At face value, it doesn't appear to be a wise decision, but I am going to trust their judgement and damage control efforts (like I have a choice).

Maybe they can just tell the kids that won't be there that to make up for it, Penn State will give them free room/board at their campus and a free education to match. On top of that, they will be the stars of the campus if they perform well on the football field which, in turn, can lead to an NFL career loaded with big contracts. I'm sure these kids will be fine...
Geez, I'm sure the staff has done this with great care and class and told the recruits who won't be there that they are still VERY important to them and another day will be set up. This can not be the very first time this has ever happened.

Brandon James says he's pretty pi$$ed about it, but what can you do. I'd rather tick off a couple recruits and have our current players focused on beating fOSU.

I have NO IDEA how these visits work, but I would think with a 7:45 kick, Joe could meet with these guys for like an hour at the most in the morning when the team is rising/ having breakfast, ect.
The post-game grub compliments of Suz would be out, but if we win this game, wouldn't it be worth it?? If we lose, it still will likely be an impressive sight to recuits....Unless we get smoked like a piece of deer jerky
