I don't give a rat's patooty about Fox News. If it disappeared from the Face of the Earth tomorrow, my response would be to stifle a yawn. But the notion that disagreeing with the POTUS makes one a de facto racist is ridiculous. While I hoped desperately to be wrong, while I hoped we were past this, I figured it was only a matter of time before his apologists started lobbing the "R-word" at his critics.

I have a fundamental disagreement with the POTUS on what ails this country. He believes the way to help people is to give them stuff ... with money taken from the labor of others. I don't, and I offer as evidence the trillions of dollars re-distributed since LBJ's Great Society initiatives that hasn't resulted in any progress. To the contrary, people are more dependent on the government for their sustenance than ever. This shouldn't be shocking to anyone because one of the Great Truisms of social policy is that "whatever you subsidize, you get more of". LBJ, much to his regret, found that out With a Vengeance after he pushed though AFDC.

I believe we desperately need to find a way make people more self-sufficient. I believe we desperately need to stop throwing money we don't have at problems and mortgaging the futures of our children ... and we're now galloping in the opposite direction of that notion. I guess that makes me a racist ...

NO WHERE did I say anyone disagrees with Obama is racist. I did not COME CLOSE to saying that and I can't stand the fact the tea-party, the republicans, and and all those activists I mention CONSTANTLY use that as a defense for when people go after them.

I'm positive that 99.9% of this board is not someone who my post would challenge, and I also think if you took a poll of this board you'd find around an 80% disapproval rate of Obama.

My attack was purely towards Fox News and the right wing activists they cater to such as Newt Gingrich and Andrew Brietbart. Paul Ryan also has fundamental disagreements with the President, and guess what I don't have a single issue with him. I'd be happy if he were our President.

So quit accusing me of calling you racist. Thanks.

I disagree with Obama, and he's only 25% more black than I am ...

I hate my pubic hair that looks blacker than the rest of me ... I wish that black hair would go back to Africa.

Wait ... that's not right.

When the 47% of people who don't currently pay taxes become 52% of the people, and can vote for taking money from the 48% who do go to college, work, and try to better themselves and society ... how is that any different than some form of financial apartheid?

One group ... oppressing another (albeit not the minority - errrr, technically, I guess most of the ones doing the taking are "minorities" ... I'm so confused, what is a minority?).

I thought this president was the great uniter?

I don't know anything about that though, my relatives are from the caribbean ...

not MEH ... because I know exactly what that moron president IS. A Chicago politician, who's basically a socialist (minus the basically).

Don't worry...appoo is on a roll. First he spent the weekend in RACIST Western Pa w/o air conditioning.....Second he hates Fox.....Third....well....who needs a third. After his weekend in W PA I expected more vitriol and didn't get it. Heck Breitbart sp? Limbaugh etc. aren't part of Fox news anyway. No reason to let the facts get in the way of a good rant though.

How about the email list serve that had lib..I mean Progressive MSM (is there any other?) planning to scream racist during the last campaign to get the heat off of Obams's relationship with Rev. Wrong. No mention? Wow, though the topic was racism.....color me confused?

On second thought...meh, MEH..... MEH

appoo, you think it is your god given right to tell all of us who should be wiped from the political scene( your words, not mine). I offer that Barney Frank should be at the head of the list to be so tossed, for all the good he does. So, in your eyes, what does that make me? Am I prejudiced against gays because I hold that to be my wish?
I also think Pelosi should be drawn and quartered. Does that make me an anti feminist?
I happen to believe( as many others do) that your President is leading this country down a horrible path and making many more people dependent on the dole of the government on the backs of so many of us who are hardworking taxpayers. Does that qualify me as a racist, under your definition?

Don't worry about it. You can borrow my white robe and pointy hood. You'll have to get it dry-cleaned, though. I spilled Beef Bourguignon all over it this evening.

Mrs psu_dad: You have Beef Bourguignon at your Klan meetings?
Me: Well, we're a pretty upscale Klan. Tonight, we had a '99 Cabernet Sauvignon that was to die for.

appoo

So, if Obama was white these commentators would not be criticizing him? Really?

Btw, I do think some of the reactions you are seeing has a racist under current and I think the Tea Party is being a little disingenuous when they say there is no racism in their movement. I don't think it's a racist movement per se but I do think they have attracted a certain element and have not done enough to repudiate it.

Walt04 - "financial apartheid"? Step away from the ledge, dude.

They would be criticizing him because of his politics and policies, which is fine. They wouldn't be attacking him like they are now. Fox News wouldn't be airing doctored videos to make his people look like they're racist, before doing some back ground on them. They wouldn't be doing month long investigations into that new black panther crap even though there is nothing factual about it. We wouldn't have a Fox News host saying the President hates white people. We wouldn't have Limbaugh encouraging him. We wouldn't have Brietbart doctoring videos multiple times in the manner he is.

If Hilary Clinton was President, she would have had much the same policies, and the criticism would have been almost purely around those policies. It would have been FAR different than what's happening to Obama. I also don't think these right wing activists would be screaming as much.

And of course we all have a right to an opinion, and once again I never said anyone who was criticizing Obama and his people are racist. The only one's who are, are the ones who are actually being racist. Such as Fox News, Limbaugh, Beck, Brietbart, and that far edge of the Tea Party. There's a good reason I said Right Wing activist. Heck, even I think Obama is turning out to be a big p*ssy.

The vast majority of this country is fine in their criticisms. Everyone has their differences and I don't recall anywhere in the constitution that we should all support the President's agenda.

Of course, I never said any of this so I'm not sure why I have to defend a position I never took.

I don't believe I ever heard any of the leaders from the Tea Party movement, claim there were no racists in the party. Trying to say the Tea Party is racist because of a few jacka$$es, is like saying the Democrats are racist because of the Black Panthers. Now, the Black Panthers, there is a racist organization. Well, they would be racist if they weren't black.

Please provide examples of where the any of the people you mentioned called Barack Obama a "(fake or real) nigger", "uncle tom" "oreo", or any other derogatory racist term (BY ONE OF THE PEOPLE OF THE SAME RACE AS YOU - I have two races in my case, so I guess I have double the chance)

- I assume you get some racism as an Indian but I can't verify that, just a guess - I wouldn't even know what a racist Indian term would be to tell you the truth.

Have you ever been called any of those in your life? I have ... it certainly wasn't by Fox News - though it was usually by black people unhappy with some opinion I had ...

How is it they (the people you mention Appoo) are racist then?

PS ... that video, the one about Shriley Sherrod ... NEVER appeard on Fox News (including Glenn Beck) before she resigned. How are you blaming them?

I agree with PSU_dad ... who cares if Fox News goes away ... my opinions are probably going to be pushed further to the right if I have to watch those morons on MSNBC all day as a consequence.

You don't.

It's fine to bash Obama, but how anyone can claim there is no racist element to it is simply not paying attention. And to claim that any complaint about those racist elements is equal to saying anyone bashes Obama is also racist makes even less sense.

It's about as logical as saying so... if she weighs the same as a duck, she must be a witch.

The issue as to whether there's any "racist element" to criticism of the POTUS is irrelevant. What IS relevant is whether criticism is valid and/or warranted, independent of an individual's "state of mind". If criticism is warranted, then tossing out the "R-word" to deflect it just adds heat to the debate, not light.

If an attack is unwarranted, it should be sufficient to invalidate it by illuminating it with the Light of Truth. Bickering about the motives of the attacker accomplishes nothing.

But the R-word is not always just "tossed out." Sometimes it is, yes, but that is exactly the problem with most political discussion. Each side takes a "sometimes" and makes it an "always" and suddenly everything becomes a black/white or yes/no option.

The racist elements are there, plain as the sun in the sky in late July. And it does reflect on those who make criticisms, and weakens it for many, often to a point of no return.

There are plenty of reasons to criticize Obama that have nothing to do with race. The more people focus on them and the less they defend racist elements, the stronger their argument.

Of course not everyone hates Obama. I know there are many on this board who think much differently about him. Perhaps we should have everyone on Nittany Nation sign this card together. Hey, it's the thought that counts.
