Yea I saw that, but I got that from an insider on BWI who's pretty hooked into this stuff. We'll see what happens.
I've already given up on a RB, and don't think we should offer the West Virginia kid. He looks like a DI back, but he doesn't look as good as Redd or any of the backs we have on campus, and Drew Harris is easily better than him. It would suck to lose Huggins, but it wouldn't hurt us.
The only thing I worry about with this class is D-Backs. I don't care if this class is just 10, but we need quality defensive backs, and unfortunately I think the cards are stacked against us. If we can't, I'd call this class the first failure we've had since I don't even know when. I grade classes by how well we filled our needs rather than the stars of the kids we bring in, and we generally do an excellent job of that.
With this class. We needed a couple of O-Lineman, and complete set of defensive lineman, a WR or two, and at least 3 DBs, if not 4 or 5. We'll get O and D lineman, I have a feeling we get Jennings and Reddish for the recievers, but don't see us getting the DBs we need, and I think that's going to cause a problem down the road.

Quinta Funderburke narrowed his list down to 5, and Penn State made it along with Arkansas, Florida, Michigan, and West Virginia.
I didn't even realize he had a written offer, but he must if he has up there. I mean he had 25+ offers.

He said in a recent interview that it is a verbal offer from PSU. He also mentioned in the interview that he is Kevin Newsome's cousin, which obviously plays a factor.

Zach West, a good looking OL from Kentucky, is down to 5. Penn State, Kentucky, Tennessee, Cinncy, and Louisville.
I believe this is going to come down to a Kentucky - PSU battle. He really loves how Penn State pushes academics.

While I'm sure you meant your post in the most positive and uplifting way.......what is your definition of "good looking"? He is "down to five" Is that on a scale of 0 to 10 or 0 to 5? Can he be out of whack or loosey goosey? Is it limited to Offensive Linemen? If not, are there other parameters and metrics? If I don't like the Metric system, can you adjust?

Darius Jennings was on campus yesterday. The visit went well, however, Joe obviously was in Chicago. There should be better updates today.
..........................
By all accounts, we are out of the running for Savon Huggins. Allan Wasonga (WV) visited early last week, and was told by the staff that they would have to sit down and make some decisions.
A new name at RB that is emerging is Tre Mason, a smaller back out of FL. The catch, is that he is originally from Long Island, and apparently considers himself a Northerner. The Scout analysts seem to really like the kids film. He talked to McQueary yesterday and was told that a written offer is in the mail. If that is indeed true, he indicated that he'll definitely be taking an official visit to PSU.

The BWI update was funny on Jenning. He told them that at first he was very high on us. Then his interest dropped a bit as we stopped talking to him, and then we started talking to him again and brought him in and once again he's very high on us.
Question about Huggins. Did we back off him because D!ck Anderson accidentally stopped talking to him, or did we do it because we didn't want him?
Either way, I'm not much bothered by a RB in this class.

Look at it from Savon's standpoint...
Rutgers is in his backyard, and Greg Schiano is aggressively pursuing him.
Florida is after him hard, and Urban Meyer is aggressively pursuing him.
As for PSU... we have **** Anderson as his lead recruiter, who basically told him, "Give us a call if you want to talk." Plus, his would-be position coach and coordinator, Galen Hall, has likely never spoken to him. On top of that, JoePa has long since stopped being proactive when it comes to recruiting.
This one is not too hard to figure out.
Btw, PSU definitely wants a RB in this class, and that is why they are looking hard at Wasonga and Mason.

Anthony Zettel will be on campus tommorow. That'd be hilarious if we pulled a life-long Wolverine fan, who lives in Michigan.

We are now a close #2, behind Michigan after he took in our practice over the past weekend and hanging with Coach LJ.

When RichRod gets canned after this NCAA investigation, I would assume we move up to #1.

Deion Barnes has narrowed his favorites to 5, and we are on the list. He plans on taking official visits before deciding.
Darius Jennings liked his visit, and PSU managed to gain back a little of the ground they lost when they were screwing with the kid about offers being in the mail. We are one of a handful of schools in whom he is interested. He'll take visits before deciding.
Cyrus Kouandjio has narrowed his list to 11, and we are not on it. Not really a surprise, but he said that the coaches were "too strict" for his liking.
Mike Caputo verballed to Wisconsin last night. Seems that his other 3 top schools, tOSU, Pitt and PSU all backed off for one reason or another.

Jennings and Barnes are the 2 players I would like to see at PSU the most. I could see Jennings starting at FS for us after Astorino.

I see scout.com has predicted Penn St landing guys like B. Reddish, Wasonga, Tre Mason, Funderburk, D. Smith, Jennings, and Cooper. Is it realistic that we could get 3-4 out of the seven? I haven't heard anything else regarding PSU leading for these guys.
