That's the collegian's twitter account. We've struck a home and away deal in 2020/2021 With Syracuse (keep those ticket stubs, I think one of those years will be Joe's retirement...), as well as a 2013 Game in the Meadowlands.
I like Doug Marrone and think the 2013 game has a chance to be a good one

I think if Joe makes it through this season it's his last. Seeing him in person a few weeks ago and noticing the amount of weight he lost, I just can't see him pulling off more than this. Having parents his age and seeing first hand how quickly things go downhill after major traumas, I suspect we're heading into the last round-up, sooner rather than later. He is actually starting to look like an octogenarian. I think the fountain of youth just ran dry.

As I've stated before, its no shame. He is over 80 and has been whistling by the retirement/health yard for quite a while. It will always be a sad day when it happens but it is inevitable. There is a favorable schedule for 2011 and it would be a good time to hand the reigns over to someone else when things are in good shape as he always said he wanted to do to finish out. We all have our destiny before us and our days are numbered. Joe has been very blessed to be able to do what he loves to do far longer than most of us. I think this fall will be a sad season for many reasons and this is one of them. With the break up of many groups of fans due to the STEP changes, etc. this will be the last time around for many fans too. It just won't be the same for a number of reasons.

Navy, Penn State to renew football rivalry in 2012.

Not hard to tell who has followed PSU and for how long by posts like these. Wonder what the board demographic of age and years following the program would be? The old eastern rivalries are passing with time and the younger set never knew they existed.

I'm actually excited about that game (Navy)...as a Navy vet I'll enjoy watching the Lions beat the crap out of the wannabe officers of the Academy.
Interesting side observation. I'll be sad to see Joe go when it happens, but my Dad's a year older and I can say with complete certainty I'm not waiting around for him to die...nor am I waiting around for or contemplating Joe's retirement beyond accepting it as inevitable...at 41 I'm secure in the knowledge that I'll either die, retire or both at some point in life too.
We tend to get maudlin re: Joe...I'd rather celebrate the legacy and life like the Irish celebrate a wake...with plenty of whiskey.
I'll get off my soapbox now...cheers!

We've landed Ohio to open 2012. That's actually a pretty respectable OOC.
Ohio, Viginia, Navy, and Temple. That's 3 current bowl teams, and Virginia looks like they'll be a lot better under Mike London. Virginia will definitely be competitive, and I think both Ohio and Navy would be as well. Combine that with the Big 10 schedule of Nebraska, Iowa, Ohio State, Michigan, Michigan State and I think you have the makings of a good schedule for that season.

I would definitely agree that its an upgrade over some recent slates (which isn't saying much).
Used to be making a bowl did signify a quality opponent but that's been watered down a bit with so many bowls.

And just think it might be Al Golden coaching against his former team in 2012. ;>)

Looks like it's going to be Penn State - Ohio State in an eastern division and Michigan - Nebraska in a western division.
That's really interesting stuff to me at least.
PSU/OSU would become the last game of the season and PSU/Nebraska would be the protected cross-over game every year. (since it also appears Iowa/Wisconsin are going to be split up based on statements made by Barry Alvarez - so that would be the protected cross-over for those two).
I don't like Rittenberg's split of the rest of the division ... http://espn.go.com/blog/bigten/post/_/id/14936/division-dominoes-wisconsin-iowa-to-split ... but truthfully, the rest of the league doesn't do much for me either way (other than Northwestern which means a trip to Chicago every few years).
That's pretty good stuff in my opinion. I like the way this is shaking out. Though that PSU/OSU will be very cold more often than not. (snow and a white-out ... I just wish PSU would wear their white jerseys (like when Georgia wore their black ones to connect with fans) when they do a whole stadium white-out *I hate the term White House by the way*).
Anyone have any thoughts on expansion beyond 12 now though? It seems that's really died down, but Curley was on Pittsburgh's ESPN and said that it's still alive and very active (it's just not front page news right now).

There is a better chance of you voting for Obama in 2012 then there is of the season not ending with OSU-Michigan.

Have you read anything about this? Even OSU and UM officials are saying the game is going to be moved up in the season.
Thanks for the insight though ...

Sounds as if its pretty much a done deal.
My gut reaction is that I don't like it at all, particularly when no less of a source than Delaney tries to justify the splits by saying that Iowa-Wisconsin, Ohio State-Michigan, and Penn State-Nebraska will now have a chance to meet for a second time in the Big Ten CG, and will have the opportunity to determine the Rose Bowl and/or BCS CG participant, instead of simply determining a division winner.
I'm also not sold on the need for 9 conference games, unless more expansion is on the way, or the college football season is going to be extended to 13 or 14 games.
How this all works out will be very interesting. To date, Delaney has made all of the right moves. However, I have a hard time accepting his explanations for the division splits and the need for 9 conference games.
One thing is for sure, tOSU and UM fans are mighty upset about all of these happenings. Like it or not, The Game is an institution not only in the Big Ten but also in college football. Moving that game to earlier in the season will make it little more than just another game. Yes, they may, on occasion, meet again in the Big Ten CG, but that won't be an every year occurrence.
